There are a few things you can do if you are having trouble accessing a Big Blue Button (BBB) session.
Firstly, you can not use an iPad or Android tablet or mobile phone as Big Blue Button does not work on them.
Secondly, do not use private browsing or incognito modes as it may block some or all of BBB.
The preferred browsers are Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Others may work but are not officially supported.
If you can not access the session please quit your internet browser and try in a different browser. If this still doesn't help please restart your computer.
If your microphone or webcam isn't working right click in big blue button and check the setting in Flash allow access and also the correct device is selected.
Big Blue Button has a number of troubleshooting steps here: BBB troubleshooting
There are a number of helpful videos around.
Here are a few:
Also, your internet or computer speed may cause issues, though this isn't common with modern devices and connections.
For bandwidth, BBB recommend 1Mbits download and 0.5 Mbits upload speed but even faster speeds will result in a better experience. Users can test their actual bandwidth using speedtest.net. You should either screenshot the results or copy the share link for your results so you can send them to us if required.
For hardware, BBB recommend a dual-core CPU with at least 2G of memory. BBB recommend any operating system capable of running the latest versions of Google Chrome and Mozilla FireFox.
For browser, BBB recommend running either FireFox or Chrome. Why? Both browsers provide excellent support for web real-time communications (WebRTC). Safari, IE, and Edge will work as well, but FireFox and Chrome will deliver better audio in lower bbandwidth conditions.
In short, if a user is having any problems (such as audio is garbled or they are periodically getting disconnected), BBB recommend trying either FireFox or Chrome. If the problems persist, it’s likely an issue with your network. BigBlueButton will give you notifications to help troubleshoot.
If the presenter needs to share their desktop, then BBB recommend running FireFox.
